Seven Years of Capturing the Hancock County Fair

The Hancock County Fair has become one of my favorite traditions to photograph here on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. This year marked my seventh year behind the lens at the Hancock County Fair, and every time I walk through the gates, I’m reminded of why I keep coming back.
The fair is more than just an event—it’s a celebration of community. From the glowing lights of the midway to the smell of funnel cakes in the air, there’s an energy that makes it a dream for any photographer. Over the years, I’ve learned that the best fair photography isn’t just about the carnival rides or food stands, but about the people who bring the fair to life: kids with wide eyes taking in their first ride, families laughing together as they share a meal, and proud competitors showing their animals in the livestock arena.
This year, I focused on capturing those timeless in-between moments that make the Hancock County Fair so special. The Ferris wheel turning slowly against a Gulf Coast sunset. Friends playing games along the midway. Local musicians filling the night with live music. It’s these little details that tell the bigger story of what makes this fair an annual highlight for Hancock County and the surrounding communities.

I also have to say, it’s always a pleasure working alongside Aaron and the crew at Big Noise Productions. Their hard work behind the scenes keeps the fair running smoothly and creates an atmosphere that’s both exciting and welcoming. Photographing the fair wouldn’t be the same without their dedication and energy.

After seven years of photographing the fair, I’ve had the chance to watch it grow and change, while still holding onto the traditions that make it a true Mississippi Gulf Coast experience. For me, the Hancock County Fair isn’t just another assignment—it’s a tradition of its own. Each photo is a way to preserve the spirit of the fair so that families and future generations can look back and relive the memories.
Whether you’ve lived on the Gulf Coast your whole life or are just passing through, the Hancock County Fair is one of those events that captures the heart of Mississippi. I’m grateful to play a small part in telling its story through my lens, year after year. View the full gallery below.
