If you’re searching for authentic tacos on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, La Garnacha in D’Iberville is worth a stop.

I’m from Brownsville, Texas, right across the border from Matamoros, so I grew up around great Mexican food and know what this style of taco is supposed to taste like.

I ordered the Matamoros tacos with steak, avocado, queso fresco, and cilantro, served with fresh limes, cucumbers, radishes, and a side of charro beans. The steak was tender, the toppings were fresh, and the flavors immediately reminded me of home.

What really surprised me is that these tacos were right on par with Ultimo Taco in Brownsville, Texas — which is a serious compliment coming from someone who grew up there.

If you’re looking for tacos in D’Iberville, Mexican food near Biloxi, or some of the best tacos on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, La Garnacha deserves to be on your list.
